100mg progesterone dosage

Hi ladies hopefully some of you may be able to answer my question.

I've just turned 42 and after symptoms for the last 12 months went to my gp to query if I was menopausal. Blood tests confirmed definitely am so my GP has prescribed 100mg progesterone on days 1 to 25 and then a 3 day break. Also prescribed oestrogen gel - 2 pumps daily.

Just been reading up about things and most of the info I've seen says that progesterone is usually prescribed at 200mg on days 15 to 26 and my dosage is often prescribed if you've not had a period for 7 months or more. I have had periods in the last 6 months though granted only 3 and they're all over the place!

Does anyone know why I may have the lower dose for more days? Is it maybe because this is early menopause?

I'll ask my gp at my review of course but curious if anyone else knows.

Thank you ladies 🙂

I was on this regime of 25 days on and three days off. If it's your periods are irregular. It didn't suit me because I couldn't tolerate taking the tablet everyday. I've gone back to two pumps daily and 200mg for fourteen days.

Oh that makes sense then - definitely very irregular periods
Thank you!

It is meant to be 200mg for 12-14days if you are peri and had a period within 12 months. If you are post menopausal ie not had a period for 12 months or longer its is 100mg Dailey. X
