New bleed

I had my last period around 18 months ago, and that was a year after the previous one so consider myself to be post menopause (55 years old). In the last few weeks my breasts have become larger and heavy, just like they used to be in the run-up to a period. Hey presto today I get a small bleed. I know I'm going to have to report this to the doctor, but I'm fairly convinced something hormonal is getting on so hopefully this is just a late final flourish… I've had investigations before so I'm pretty depressed at the idea of going back to the stress of an ultrasound or further investigations, biopsies…

Hi I have exactly the same happening to me right now have been bleeding for 2 days now, not heavy heavy but just like a period - I am scared beyond words as I already suffer from anxiety. Can I ask what was the cause, are you ok now? I’m 55 too, had my last period 18 months ago.

I had the same and they picked up a big cyst which I'm now waiting to have removed.

It's like nothing but you must have it checked.

@Shannon35 I was investigated and no issues discovered, they think it was my body's attempt at another period - over 18 months after the last one. I had all the symptoms of a period, sore boobs etc but very light bleeding. I had an ultrasound scan and hysteroscopy (biopsy of womb lining) and all ok. Do go to your GP for peace of mind.

Thank you for your messages I will call the Dr on Monday, had sore boobs for a couple of weeks too. I would have called Drs earlier but It started as just a pink tinge on the paper when I went to the loo, I thought I’d just wait and see if it passed but then it came as if on a period, but was too late to get an appointment on Friday. I’m finding it difficult to concentrate I’m so scared, it’s horrible what is women have to go through. Mumsnoangel I’m so glad they couldn’t find anything for you, hope and pray I get the same result. Thank you

I had this after having COVID. I was two weeks short of the menopause and had that hormonal feeling before the bleed. It was a last hurrah.

Dr did an internal examination to check for vaginal atrophy which can also cause bleeding. Then I was sent for an ultrasound - abdominal and vaginal. Lining was fine so did not need a biopsy.

Go get it checked.
