Timings of taking Lutigest Progesterone pessaries please?

GP prescribed Estradot 75mcg plus Lutigest 100 progesterone pessaries

There are only 21 in the box & no there's no advice how to take them (internal leaflet is advice for fertility treatment). Obviously I apply the patches daily but when do I take pessaries & will I get a withdrawal bleed on 7 days I don't take?

I've been given 1 months worth to try. No advice & no phone call avail ('has to be GP' apparantly) within a month either. My GP is poor (& head of practice!)

does anyone know please?

Are you in England?
Most women aren't prescribed that type of progesterone. They get Utrogestan.

Are you in Scotland by any chance?
If you are, Utrogestan was licensed for HRT use several months ago. I've seen a few posts here from women in Scotland whose GPs seem unaware of the new rules on it.

Anyway, if you have stopped your periods , you take it every day. No break. (This has changed from the old way that was 25 days per month.)

If you have had a period within the last 12 months, then you're supposed to take it on a cycle of 200mgs x 12 days per month.

Yes, in Scotland.
I'm 55. I think I've stopped my periods for the last 12 months yes.
The box only has 21 pessaries in it & only advice inside is for assisted conception. Do I start it & get another prescription before the 21 days is up, or tell GP I want utrogestan ? (I have, currently uneducated low mood & weight gain so no idea which is 'better' re prospects, or just try it & see?)

well, the medical advice is always give any HRT regime 3 months as it can take than time to settle down.

Ideally you want to take it every day or 12 days (x2 capsules) a month.

And yes, ask for Utrogestan. There is no difference, it's just a brand and (was) a licensing issue.
