Is this the menopause?

As my family is complete so due to heavy bleeding and contraceptive, I've had mirena's for years, which is great as I've stopped having period.

I'm now 50 with constant fatigue, itchy skin and insomnia.

Is this the start of menopause or perimenopause? How would I know?

Do I go to the GP and ask for HRT? I know nothing about HRT.

I would definitely start by contacting your GP.
You made need to have your coil changed and discuss options for HRT.

Thanks for the reply. I've got 18 months left on this morena and it's my 3rd so far. Sounds like you think it's the start of the menopause. I'll try to get an appointment.

You'd know purely because of your age. At 50 you will certainly be in peri, as hormones start depleting from 40 on over and probably heading for meno when periods stop, though obviously no change for you in that regard. For some women this is late forties for some older.

Just Google hrt and NICE guidelines, or read up on here, or look at the Newson clinic site for info (though don't pay their fees!)

There is so much info available about the menopause. Many women don't go down the hrt route, just depends on how issues caused by low hormones affect your quality of life. Good luck!
