What to ask at appointment

Hiya

I’m in my 30’s and been diagnosed with POI this year. I’ve been on HRT for just over a month. I’m lucky enough to have a very good menopause consultant in my area available via GP referral.
My appointment with her is on Saturday and whilst I have 100 questions in my head I can’t actually write down what I need to ask at this appointment.
Any advice? I’m really confused as to why this is happening etc and need some guidance I know that.

Hi OP, it’s crap isn’t it, sorry you’re going through it. I went through it at 38 which was bad enough. Can you give us a bit more info to help frame?

  • what are your symptoms and is the HRT helping?
  • what HRT are you on and how are you finding it?
  • do you want any/more kids? So are there any concerns re fertility etc?
  • What do you want out of the appointment itself?

@RedChester Hiya yes it’s awful!
The main symptoms were crippling anxiety/panic attacks and night sweats along with very irregular lighter periods. HRT is definitely helping and I almost feel back to my normal self.
I’m on 3 pumps oestrogen and the cyclic progesterone. I find that when I have the break my anxiety gets worse and my insomnia is back. I also never have a withdrawal bleed (last period was September) but on the whole it’s definitely helping. I had an ultrasound scan done last week to see if a cyst I had had gone (it had) and asked them about my lining, they said it’s thin even though now is when I’m supposed to be bleeding. I’ve obviously just got no oestrogen whatsoever naturally.
With regards to fertility, I have children but I actually got the coil out so we could try for another, only to be told 6 months later that I’m pretty far into menopause and need HRT so it’s a bit of a head f*ck really!
Have struggled to get my head round the fact I can’t have any more kids but so grateful for the ones I do have already.
I suppose I just want some more information and reassurance really, I never expected to be in this position

Hi,
@zorrodrt I just wanted to reach out as i
am in a very similar situation. I am 38, got diagnosed with POI after I miscarried with our third and I have been on HRT for a year now which has helped my symptoms dramatically. I have my appointment with the menopause clinic on Friday after being referred a year ago!!! I am considering coming off my HRT for a short time to see if I do ovulate and see how my symptoms are.
Did you manage to get the answers you needed at your appointment. I don’t suppose I am much help but reaching out as I am sadly in the same boat x
