Really sore breasts on some cycles (am on HRT) any solutions?

Having sore breasts, roughly related to my menstrual cycle, was one of the things that made me really want to start HRT and I did, about 18 months ago. I'm currently on 1.5mg Sandrena gel and the standard 200mg Utrogestan for 12 days per cycle. (I was on 2mg sandrena but a menopause specialist (NHS) asked me to reduce - in the interests of reducing my palpitations which are a nightmare - she thought initially maybe they were triggered by oestrogen depletion or fluctuation but now maybe they're because of too MUCH oestrogen. I'm meant to be seeing someone at that clinic 'soon' for a discussion about testosterone, so I'm sort of under the clinic at the moment.)

Anyway, sore boobs. As before I started HRT, they can be really painful over several months and then abate. Right now, I've had about 3 weeks of painful feelings, prickly, aches etc - mostly in my right breast (which is always the worse for soreness) but the left too. Usually at the sides but now my nipples have started in and it's like I'm in early pregnancy! I don't think it's been that bad since before I started HRT. I had a mammogram (my first routine one) back in August which was fine and I can't feel anything untoward myself.

What do you other peri ladies do with your sore boobs? Is there any point in trying efamast or OEP or anything like that?? Is that something I can take with HRT?

Evening primrose oil.
I was actually prescribed it by my GP.
But Holland and Barrett do a few good ones.
Also warm cabbage leaves. Steam a cabbage and place the warm ( not hot) onto your boobs on a night time.. put a towel over the top.
Good luck.

I changed to the coil from Utro, and all my pre menstrual breast pain went.

I still get mastalgia but my breasts arent swollen and uncomfortable any more.

Before going on HRT and realising I was peri my boobs were a bloody nightmare. Some cycles I couldn’t even walk down the stairs. Mine were always more sore on one side too. Since I’ve upped my gel to 3 pumps the boob pain has all but gone thank god. Too little oestrogen seemed to be my problem

I had terrible breast pain before HRT. HRT has mainly sorted it. The only time it came back was when I tried switching from patches to gel and everything went haywire.
I think it's high estrogen levels that causes it. Or maybe fluctuations in estrogen.
I'm on Mirena coil and patches. I like that it keeps me on a very even keel without the fluctuations.

Very interesting

I'm disturbed about getting a coil but wondering if it might also be my magic answer. Hate Utrogestan

@SamphireAndSalmon my first two coils in my early 30s didn't work for me, but this one is fine.

I still have cycles, still get PMT and still bleed each month.

The GP agreed she would take it out straight away if I wanted her to.

It's been in 4 months and it does the job I need it to do, which is allow me to have a 100 mcg patch without utro.

Only hurt for a couple of minutes going in. No pain or cramps afterwards.
