Peri symptoms- am I too young? When did you start?

I’m 38 and something is definitely up with my cycle. Over the last year I have gone from 28-29 day cycles to 23-26 day cycles. My periods are also more painful and I’m sometimes getting spotting for several days before my period starts. I’ve also been getting acne on my chin, finding it difficult to lose weight and my anxiety is way high. I also had an episode of recurrent persistent UTIs in the last year. I keep thinking this could be peri related but everything I read says early - mid 40s is more likely. Obviously there are exceptions to this. When did you develop symptoms?

Wow, I could have written your first paragraph. Periods started getting heavy, painful and every 21 days from 38, with spotting in between. Had various scans/test but nothing. GP said I was too young for menopause but said the coil would help. Had it fitted in June and periods still heavy but now every 24/25 days and no spotting.

I’m really struggling with anxiety, which is resulting in weight gain as I stress eat.

41 right after having my last baby! DH, first wife went through the menopause at 23, but had none of these symptoms!

Honestly, it could be anything. Time to make a GP appointment.

I was in my 50s before perimenopause started. Before that, I started having problems due to fibroids.

I’m actually already seeing gynaecology for something else and have had clear ultrasounds so there is nothing like fibroids or cysts to blame.

I started at 39. (Now 43). I’ve been on HRT for several years already.

Peri & meno symptoms are so encompassing that apparently I started perimenopause when I was about 2 years old.

Reality, I'd attribute some symptoms starting when I was 55 years old.

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

I felt different after I had DD2 age 33 and had cervical and ovarian cancer scares and then was diagnosed with endometriosis just before my 40th birthday, and had lots of peri symptoms from age 35. Having surgery then going on desogestrel then (cautiously) back on Femodene, I'm had no problems at all and feel so much better at 48 than at 38 mentally and physically.

I had the copper coil fitted from about age 34-39 and the cancer scares and endometriosis all happened in that time. When I have to come off Femodene at fifty I'm going to go straight onto HRT. Artificial hormones are an absolute necessity AFAIC. Hormonal problems require a hormonal solution, not bloody CBT.

You are not too young, and Peri can last years and years before full menopause. I was on HRT at 40. If you can go to a private clinic, do so.

I was 38 when I noticed things changing. I would get angry at my DH for breathing, hot flushes at night, itchy skin, loss of libido and sex became very painful. My periods stopped for 6 months and only came back when the DR prescribed me HRT. I am not an anxious person but still get a panicky feeling in my chest and my heart raced from time to time for no reason. I found a menopause vitamin and also a herbal supplement called black cohosh really helped.

I’m 38 and have been on HRT for a little bit now. I was diagnosed with premature menopause this year. I had irregular lighter periods, sometimes heavier. Period pain and no period sometimes, sore boobs randomly, night sweats and the worst anxiety/panic attacks ever.
I feel so much better since starting it
