I'm 51, and up until July was having fairly regular periods (the intervals varied between about 3 weeks and 5 but I basically still had a period every month). Definitely perimenopausal, had brain fog, needing to wee lots, weight gain, an occasional hot flush etc. Then in July I had a period and BANG, I had about 10 weeks of extreme hot flushes - more than 30 times a day, getting no sleep because of waking up with a hot flush and not being able to get back to sleep. I definitely thought I was going to need HRT to get back some sleep and be able to do my job. But over the last month or so the hot flushes have basically petered out. I haven't had a period since July and I am basically hoping this is it and I'm all done. Could that 10 weeks of sweaty hell have been a very fast and efficient process to rid me of all my oestrogen and could I possibly be over the worst?? I mean my brain still doesn't work, I'm still fat, I still need a wee every hour or so... but it's all manageable. Or am I tempting fate thinking like this?
