Just that really, I'm peri and been on Oestrogel for 18 mths which has really helped all my other symptoms. But I just can't stay asleep.

I probably sleep 1 or 2 nights a week for about 4/5hrs. I'm on my 5th night now of waking up after a couple of hours and just not going back to sleep for an hour or so, then awake again after an hour, and repeat until thank god the morning arrives.

Have seen my doctor and she just says I need to do something like the headspace app, which I've tried and makes no difference. I take an antihistamine some nights and that does help occasionally. Have also tried Nytol etc, but that makes no difference either.

I'm so desperate to sleep, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do/take to help stay sleeping? Going to call the drs again tomorrow as can't carry on like this, I just can't function.

Thank you 😊

High strength magnesium helps with sleep.

The Dr won’t do anything, there are such tight guidelines now for prescribing meds for sleep.

I was going to say magnesium too. It won't do any harm and it really might help.

Thank you, I have tried magnesium but it gave me a really bad upset stomach 😫

Try the Better You spray and bypass your digestive system. Good for restless legs too.

Hi does your HRT need increasing ? My sleep always goes out of the window when it needs to go up. To help sleep I don't have any caffeine, cakes, biscuits or sweets, or alcohol. I exercise quite a bit.
On holidays when I do indulge my sleep is rubbish. I've always been a bit of a rubbish sleeper but find the above really helps x

The dr has said I can increase my pumps from 2 to 4 so maybe I'll try that tonight, thank you 😊

I have had this too- my sympathies.

A few things that have helped me (not resolved sadly):

  1. I put in headphones and play a podcast/music - I find I drift back off eventually.
  2. I find carbs before bed help. If I’m too hungry I’m wide awake.
  3. getting some sunlight (I have a sad lamp) early in the day, and the usual avoid caffeine after 12.
  4. exercise (not too much before bed)

i appreciate these may not help you, but just in case they do. Sorry if they’re Simple’s things you’ve already thought of.

I’ve increased my oestrogen too so let’s see. Hope the increased oestrogen tackles the issue for you. good luck!
