Oestragel and Hand Luggage

Has travelled on a flight with Oestragel in their hand luggage? It has a weight in grams, not mls, so I don’t know if it’s under or over the 100mls limit. I’m not taking checked baggage so that’s not an option. Thank you.

I have a few times, no problem, I made sure it was in its original packaging and showed it at security explaining it was medication. Mine was definitely over 100ml.

You can take medications through without a size limit. Theoretically I think they may want to see the prescription but I wasn't asked for it. It went in a separate tray through the scanner and I forgot to collect it, so I had a customs officer waving my HRT around the checking area trying to find out whose it was!

Yes, take your prescription & if possible have it in it's original box. It won't be a problem. A tube is almost certainly less than 100mL anyway, that would be a huge tube the size of a large tube of toothpaste.

My Oestragel comes a large pump bottle, 150ml.

It's near enough a 1ml = 1g conversion. How big is your bottle?

Actually, have just looked, my newest bottle looks smaller and cylindrical, 80g, which is pretty much 80ml, my previous bottle was more bottle shaped and looked much bigger, but think it was maybe an illusion!

Have found a picture of the old bottle, and I am indeed wrong, still only 80g! (I blame the menopause)

I flew very recently and had it in the box the security guy took it out and placed it inside a clear bag he said if it was in the box it’d be tested. He went on to say it’s too important for it to be wasted when it’s often in short supply.

JinglingSpringbells · 14/11/2023 19:00

It's 80mgs/mls- that's on the container. No need to declare.

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/11/2023 19:02

I always fly with it in hand luggage (not risking losing it if my checked baggage is delayed/lost). I place it (in its box) separately in the tray at security and it just goes straight through. Done this in various countries and the only place that stopped it and took it out and examined it was Doha where they checked it against their list of allowed medication.

I put bottle in clear bag and have box in same tray.
All fine except in birmingham where they asked for my passport, did not believe it was less than 100ml so wanted to test a bit of it as well. This takes an extra 5 mins (or extra 100 years according to my impatient children).
Now if I am travelling for a short time, I decant the required number of pumps into a small clean container. No issues.

Mine was Birmingham airport too where They placed mine in a bag. Flew from New York, Dubai, Singapore to and from London Heathrow no issues.

Stansted airport no problems ever with it in a box in a bag. One Security guy laughed and said I know what this is, don't worry I won't take it away!
