Test result

Hello.

I went for a blood test recently in regards to my periods becoming less regular. I believe they were checking for peri-menopause and markers of ovarian cancer. I have received the results on my app, but haven't had them discussed with me. Does anyone know what this means...

Serum follicle
stimulating hormone level
(XMOlx) 4 iu/l [> 3.9]; Mid-
follicular: FSH 3.9 - 8.8 IU/L;
Mid-cycle peak: FSH 4.5- 22.5
IU/L; Mid-luteal FSH: 1.8 - 5.1
IU/L; Post-menopausal: FSH 16.7
113.6 IU/L

This seems more like a reference key than results.

Hiya

These just look like parameters rather than the actual results. Did they tell you your results were back? When I had mine done due to the same reason as you, the GP called me with the results as FSH was high

Thank you for your reply...they just sent a text to say the results were on. I checked the NHS up and there were lots of results, as I had a few tests. No answer of whether it was normal.

Testing on women over 45 is not supposed to be done. The results are inaccurate.

FWIW, your FSH is 16.7.
The cut off point for post menopause is over 30.

But can't understand why your GP ran tests anyway.

Are you under 45?

I am under 45, but have history of early menopause in my family...so that's probably why they tested.

So the results say I'm not in peri-menopause?

Guess I'll not get an answer from the doctor yet !
