53, no real symptoms so far. Periods not quite as regular as they used to be, some up to 6 weeks apart and then closer together, but still turning up on average once a month, maybe some brain fog, but who knows if that's connected.

This weekend I've started sweating. Just all of a sudden I feel very hot with a damp forehead, during the night and during the day. Comes on very suddenly and passes quickly, a few seconds. Happening very regularly, maybe once an hour.

Would it start so suddenly and happen so frequently from the beginning?

I do also have some mild cold symptoms.

Yep, sounds like you're starting to get hot flushes. Mine started a lot earlier (41) but I hadn't a clue. Went to gp who was useless, I had almost eight years of rotten symptoms with no help from gp but eventually paid to see a private specialist, I'm so annoyed that I didn't start hrt 10 years ago. Keep a diary of your symptoms, do a little homework and educate yourself, it's best to have as much knowledge possible. I joined a fb group called The Irish Menopause (I think) and its was a great help.
