Has my own cycle overridden HRT?

Day 27 of first month of cyclical HRT (gel and tablets).

Been taking 1.5 pumps of gel since starting on day 1 of this cycle (i.e. when my period started) then 200mg of Utrogestan days 15-26. Took last two tablets last night but my bleed started this morning which makes me think this is my own cycle and not the withdrawal bleed which I would expect to kick in in a few days…

Im planning to carry on with exactly the same regime as this month (so will start the cycle again at day 1 on Tuesday, obviously taking the Oestrogel the whole time and then using Utrogestan from day 15-26.

Slightly concerned that the progesterone may not have been doing its job as I’ve been inserting it vaginally to avoid any side effects.

Should I be worried given this is only month 1?

You’ve not been on it long enough to take over yet, I’d expect it to take a couple of months.

To make it easier to remember. You could start the utrogestan on the same date each month and it will eventually override your own cycle. Or two weeks ( or 12 days) on and two weeks off.

Thanks both. So it’s likely that I need to give it time to settle into the HRT cycle? Either way it seems like the last dose of Utrogestan and the first day of bleeding aren’t too far apart so I’ll see what happens next month and adjust then if necessary 😊
