I have been on evorel patches for two years now, have had the occasional spotting but nothing bad. Doctors sent me for hystoscopy etc and all came back clear. The bleeding is very heavy now especially after having sex. I have been given northisterone but dont want to keep taking it long term. Whats are the options

Can you give a few more details?

Is Evorel only estrogen or are you on a combined estrogen+progesterone patch?

Is it combined continuous (both hormones every day) or are you using a sequential type ( 14 days with progestogen added in)?

How old are you?

How long ago was the hysteroscopy?

Have you considered another type of HRT (either a different patch or the Mirena coil)?

Thank you for your reply.
the hysteroscopy was about two months ago.
I finally have an appointment today with doctor. I’m hoping she will suggest an alternative, I’m not keen on the idea of a coil, at 60 I thought I was done with all of that to be honest. 😩

im wondering how do you know if you have come through the menopause and don’t need hrt anymore?

You won't know if you have any symptoms (without hrt) unless you stop for 3 months and see.

You don't say what dose of patch it is, but bleeding only usually happens if there is too much estrogen and not enough progestogen to offset its effects on the womb lining.

Presumably when they did your hysteroscopy they didn't find fibroids or anything else like that?

Out of interest, is this in the UK ? (Just noticed your time of posting.)

I hope you get on ok with your appt. It is unusual to have heavy bleeding after 2 years on continuous combined HRT.
