I feel awful

I've been on HRT for about a year now. Currently 4 pumps Oestrogel/Utrogestan nightly and added in Testogel 6 months ago.

My latest bloods show that my oestrogen is around the 600 pmol/l point. It was 1275 pmol/l in June.
I know the post meno level is <183 so clearly not there yet.

I don't know if this is a fast drop or not for 3 months but I feel as if I'm in permanent free fall.

My testosterone (which was too low to detect before I started the testogel) was 1.3 this time and 1.4 in June. Free androgen has dropped this time to 1.1 from 1.3 in June. I thought that the testosterone was supposed to increase over time but mine has now stalled.

I asked the GP about the results. He said all in normal ranges so he's not worried, which I get. I'm not disputing the results and I've long since given up on any idea of constructive thinking from him but I just can't seem to shake off feeling so absolutely terrible. How can everything be normal when I feel like I'm wading through treacle every single day...

I did use a BUPA Specialist to get my HRT in the first instance so perhaps I should go back to her but it's so pricey. And I don't know what there is left to try.

I'm so lost with this now. Nothing is improving and it's affecting me so badly.

Sorry to hear your feeling so bad, what are your symptoms?

Mustardfan · 28/10/2023 08:26

I know that not everyone has progesterone intolerance, so I don’t know if my comment is going to be helpful, but I felt that I was wading through treacle when I took progesterone. If you think back to how you felt before you started the HRT, did you feel the same then? I suppose one way to find out if the progesterone is affecting you badly would be to switch to cyclical and see how you feel when you aren’t taking it. My suggestion may not be helpful. I hope you find some resolution. HRT doesn’t suit everyone.

If focus less on the stats and more on the symptoms. Keep a diary and tweak the levels, rather than testing.
