Peri menopausal? Symptoms

Nearly 46 and just had my 2nd period this month. Last one was 2 weeks ago! I thought it was spotting but it's a period. Not heavy though but I'm shattered, anxiety, headaches and totally fatigued since coming on again yesterday. I'm seeing GP next week as I'm grinding my teeth again. And want blood tests etc. Also, I'm so regular usually. I remember having same thing happen only last year but no other symptoms. I'm just feeling oddly more anxious then usual. That I almost feel like I'm about to have a panic attack in public? Can anyone relate?

Exactly the same here! I’m 46. My periods are getting closer together lately and I’ve got horrendous anxiety a lot of the time.
ive booked blood tests and the GP says I can go on HRT, I just need to research and decide what type! Seems a big task 😬

Yep same here. Started HRT just over 3 months and anxiety is so much better and night sweats has gone. I am on oestrogen 50 patches with 12 days, a month of utrogestan progesterone. If you still have a womb you need progesterone to stop it getting too thick from the oestrogen. You need to decide whether you would prefer gel patches or spray. They are the safest apparently. You can get your progesterone as a combined patch or separately as a tablet like I have. As you are still peri having periods you’d be on cyclical HRT, so the progesterone is only for 12 days or two weeks of every month. If you have not had a period for over 12months you would be on continuous HRT which is progesterone every day.

I had 2 periods last month and still not had one this month.
Awful anxiety and itchy skin brain fog migraines etc.

Never no when periods are due sometimes really light some heavy.
Ive got all the symptoms of peri-menopause but my doctor says it cant be because im only 37.

Yes! I wake every night at 2.30am and I can't get back to sleep. I have all over aching, itchy crawling feelings over my body, burning down below, heartburn and anxiety and I want to kill DH every time I look at him! The only thing I don't have is the sweating. I have tried different HRT types but have found nothing works so just pray that it will be over soon. I'm 51. My DM once told me it lasts 10 years 😩

@rockinginarockingchair ypu need to push for bloods. See a different GP. I was 38 when mine started exactly like yours. Had bloods done and FSH was 42.5. Offered HRT straight away.

@BooseysMom how long ago did you try HRT. It might be worth trying again, which ones did you try?.

thanks. I was on it for about a year then stopped 2 months ago. I started on Oestrogel and Utrogesten then when that didn't work, I switched to Evorel Conti & Sequii patches then Evorel 50 then upped to 75 then eventually I gave it all up. Nothing really helped. I have good days though but the bad far outweigh the good. I can't afford to see a menopause consultant so just trying to deal with it a day at a time. I do thank god my moods are now stable as that's one less bad thing to worry about!

I’m wondering if this is me. I’m 47. My periods are getting closer together. I’m often very tired and achey. My mind is like a sieve. I can forget a word as I’m about to say it. I should be looking for a job now that both dcs are at high school but I have zero self confidence and massive anxiety about it. I’m definitely not myself but I worry that a doctor wouldn’t take it seriously.

zorrodrt · 26/10/2023 19:08

@Divinespark definitely push for bloods. They did mine because my periods were so erratic and due to my age. Literally did every blood test under the sun and the menopause one was high. Repeated it 6 weeks later and it was even higher. I had panic attacks and the teeth grinding was worse than ever
