Period pains but no bleeding…normal for peri?

My cycles have been really shot over the last year, so much so that I ovulate the day I stop bleeding (day 5 or 6) and then get my next period 14 days later, sometimes sooner. I had an ablation 2 years ago as my periods were really heavy, this didn’t really work, lightened my periods a little but still very painful and often spotting in between periods. I’ve been waiting almost 2 years for gynaecology appointment which I have tomorrow, my period was due a few days ago (just in time for the appointment) but it hasn’t arrived. I have all the symptoms, cramps, hot and cold sweats and weird dreams, craving carbs etc.. but no bleeding. I had bloods taken last week to check if I am menopausal (I’m only 41 so they have to check bloods before giving HRT).

I was hoping tomorrows appointment would result in me getting the go ahead for a hysterectomy after years of heavy periods but am now worried that I will be told to wait and see if my periods do just stop with menopause.

Is having a period without the bleeding a sign of menopause? I know it could be a number of things, I also expect to walk up tomorrow before my appointment and start bleeding.

You need to be period free for 12 months before you’re menopausal. Would you consider a mirena coil ?

I will be discussing the coil tomorrow, because I have had the ablation it’s more risky so would need to be inserted by gynaecologist apparently. I am worried because everything makes me bleed, smear tests, sex and sometimes just going for a no2, I think I have a lot of erosion in my cervix.

i think I am perimenopausal rather than menopausal, symptoms have been getting worse over the past 4/5 months especially poor sleep and night time sweats, last night was awful, one minute I was freezing cold and the next I’m led naked in front of the fan 😬. I really expected to wake up to my period but nothing. I’m pretty sure I didn’t ovulate this month as I usually get a lot of pain with ovulation.

Hiya
I’m 39 and for the past year I’ve had very erratic periods. 21-72 days. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy. I regularly have period pains and no period, pms symptoms, sore boobs, mood swings and nothing happens. It is a sign of peri menopause and it’s awful not knowing where your body is at. I’d rather just come on and then have some release rather than then build up to it then nothing. I have anxiety, night sweats, rage etc. I had bloods done twice which confirmed it and was offered HRT which I’ll be starting soon. Hope you get some answers tomorrow but ultimately it’ll be the blood results that show whether you are or not

Thank you, that’s exactly what it feels like, I expected to get up today and be bleeding after lots of craps yesterday but no, it’s kind of frustrating not knowing if or when it will happen. I have always been pretty regular and always know when I ovulate so can plan when I will bleed even though cycles have been shorter. The night time sweats and lack of sleep are the worst bit.

Hopefully I can get HRT after todays appointment, my GP is going to call me in ten days and hopefully give me a prescription depending on how today goes.

I’ve noticed over the last 3-4 cycles my periods have been very different to normal….sometimes a few days early, sometimes a few days late, varying degrees of length and varying degrees of heaviness.

My periods have always arrived like clockwork and been identical in pattern every month for as long as I can remember so this sudden change has been very noticeable.

This month my period is 5 days late, which is the latest it’s ever been and there are no signs of it arriving either.

I’m 40 and have been wondering whether to see the GP about it or not….
