Vagifem

Catswillbecats · 23/10/2023 09:08

I started vagifem about two months ago - didn't complete the first 14 days as I had pelvic discomfort.
Realised I was probably being dramatic so started again in the last two ish weeks.
I have lost count of how many I have had as I forgot to note the day. I think I am probably on either day 11 or 13 . Does it matter if I go over? If I take another 3 when it should be 1 I mean. I can't remember how many I inserted the first time round. Confused

What’s vagifem please

Whoopsadaisydownagain · 23/10/2023 09:13

You do a 14 day one a night initial dose , then mainly twice a week.
I've been on it around 4 years now, had cramps at the start , all good now.
I wouldn't think not doing the full 14 days would be a big problem , perhaps you could do 3 times a week for the first 2 weeks just as an extra ?

@Oxborn

it's a vaginal pessary for dryness . A super tiny dose of HRT.

Oxborn · 23/10/2023 09:24

Maybe that’s what i need is it different to the cream unsure what it’s called now

BigPussyEnergy · 23/10/2023 09:24

It’s a tiny dose of oestrogen so I don’t think it would matter hugely how often you use them. I tend to use them every other day when I remember, but I also have ovestin cream which I find more helpful as it can be used outside as well as inside.

JinglingSpringbells · 23/10/2023 09:50

Makes zero difference @Catswillbecats
It's such a tiny does that using it 2 x a week for a year is the same as one daily dose of HRT.

The loading dose of 14 days is so you get maximum benefit because it's so weak and it takes a long time to work. It really wouldn't matter if you carried on for a month every day.

Thank you! Useful information. 😀

I followed the instructions to the letter at first and didn't see much improvement, so I tried a much longer initial loading dose and that helped enormously.

I did the two week loading, but need to use it 4 times a week to remain symptom free.
