Hrt after hysterectomy

Hi
I'm soon to be having a total hysterectomy, everything is going.

Up until now, I've been on a 75 patch with coil.

Ladies who have had a total hysterectomy, how much oestrogen do you use ( if you are on HRT) ?

Suppose we are all different, but just wondered.

Thanks.

Hi, I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago, I have 4 pumps of Oestrogel, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Both the surgery and the HRT have improved my life immeasurably!!

That's good to know, Thankyou.

I'm hoping I will still be able to continue with HRT, after the operation.

There should be no reason why you can't continue, you won't need the progesterone but the oestrogen is particularly beneficial for lots of reasons. Good luck with the operation !!!

Hi, i'm bumping this thread as I recently had a radical hysterectomy. I'm still in early recovery so it's early days to say how my hormones are feeling -but- I was only told by gynae to have two pumps of Oestrogel per day, split morning / eve.

So now I'm wondering @lizzie0712 if I should up my dose. I feel OK for now and haven't had any signs of menopause even tho I'm 53 and have now had everything removed.

If my oestrogel isn't enough, what signs and symptoms should I be looking for?

Hi, I'm no expert by any stretch and can only say what works for me. If you feel ok with the dosage you are on thats a good sign. 4 pumps works for me and if I miss occasionally it doesn't seem to impact me much. The Balance app and website (Dr. Louise Newton) have loads of information on the overall benefits of oestrogen. I used the private consultation service when I was desperate for help and they were great! Good luck!!
