Early menopause

Hoping I'm not alone here.

My GP Has booked me in for blood tests as they suspect I'm going through early menopause (I'm 35)
Only symptoms are my cycles are getting longer and longer (40-60 days) and brain fog.
What can I expect if they diagnose early menopause?
I thought I was years away from this!

You can expect HRT, so have a read up as to what you would like to take.

Under 40 is premature menopause.

You definitely need HRT

my periods stopped at 36. i have had to have bone scans to confirm bone density. i am on HRT with a combined contraceptive (zoelly) and i have a chat with the menopause clinic every six months. i have had 3 hot sweats (only one since being on HRT though) but i would definitely get on the HRT it is helpful for lots of reasons.

I'm 36 and have been told I could be perimenopausal. I'm really suffering with brain fog, amongst other things

Now 43 and full blown. Started at 39. Did almost a year on the pill, no help. Been on HRT for a few years, increasing doses from 25, 50, 75 then 100. Oestrogen levels still dropping month on month. Now started Lenzetto spray… My mother keeps saying an early one is a shorter one (both grandmother, mother and older sister all had early menopause) I hope she’s right…

I had an early menopause and HRT is definitely not essential. I tried around 6 different ones and nothing agreed with me. I was prescribed calcium as oestrogen levels dropping can cause osteoporosis. For the sweats, I was prescribed a very low dose of sertraline. Both of these worked well. Having read the booklets with the HRT, I was more than happy not to take it.

The only issue for me was not being able to have any more children. I'd waited too long. I have one who is 20 next month and I'm still gutted he has no siblings!

Just googled how long menopause lasts for, just out of interest. 7-14 years!!!! What the hell! I thought it would be about 3 max! God it sucks to be a bloody woman. Such a significant portion of our life spent feeling terrible, first with periods and then with this bullshit.
