Can symptoms start years after periods stop?

I am 54, haven’t had a period for 4 years, thought I’d had a pretty easy menopause, a few hot flushes, periods erratic and heavy but not horrendous.

Recently I’ve started getting daily headaches, palpitations, fatigue and brain fog, I’ve had loads of blood tests and an ecg but nothing is showing as a concern, I questioned if it could be hormonal changes and helped by HRT but clinician said it was unlikely after all this time, has anyone experienced similar?

Symptoms can start any time from peri until you die. There is still the idea that a woman goes 'through' the menopause. There's no such thing as going through it, women remain in menopause until they die. Therefore symptoms can appear anytime even in your seventies and eighties.
