I'm 48 and I started mirena coil and oestrogel 2 pumps at night, about 18 months ago. Plus vagifem for dryness.
I was offered it after years of begging for help with pmdd, finally after a few seriously heavy periods I was referred to a gynaecologist. I'd never even heard of perimenopause before reading Mumsnet!
At first it was brilliant. I got sleep and energy. Then it settled down but it was still incredible after a lifetime of terrible pmdd. Still waking up a few times in the night, but able to return to sleep.
Just in the last few months I've had very light periods (or whatever they are) with sudden tearfulness and low moods. Also a lot less sleep, waking in the night as usual but unable to get back to sleep.
So I upped my oestrogel to 3 pumps at night about 3 weeks ago. It's helped the tearful moods (except the last few days I've cried at the news, but that could be because the news is very distressing). I still can't sleep enough! Brain fog is bad, affecting life and work. It's always been pretty bad tbh, but worse when tired all the time.
They only give appointments a year away, but I've managed to get a cancellation one for next week. It's a short phone call, so I want to make sure I don't miss anything as it could be my only chance for another year!
Please could you help with suggestions on what I need to ask/focus on in the appointment?
Also, should I split the dose to morning and night, now I'm taking 3 pumps?
Do they prescribe testosterone (UK) and if so is it useful?
The vagifem has helped dryness, but orgasms are not what they once were, can't feel much inside, clitoral ok (apologies for tmi !!!).
