Increase in mucus and spotting - normal?

Hi everyone,

I think I’m perimenopausal. I’m 45 and 3-4 years ago starting spotting mid cycle and periods a little irregular so I was referred and had a hysteroscopy and transVaginal scan, both of which showed nothing other than a larger than average womb. This was August 2021.

Since then my periods have become much more irregular and in the last month was 42 days long and when it did arrive I bled for over 7 days with spotting beforehand. But one thing I’ve noticed is an increase in the slimy mucus you get and almost continual spotting. Some days none but definitely more than usual.

I am also tired, have a sore knee, feel hot at times etc.

I get health anxiety and am thinking all sorts but has anyone else had these symptoms?

many thanks in advance xxx

Hi, yes I would definitely say you are perimenopausal x

Yes I would think this is a normal occurrence as part of the perimenopause. It's such a pain! Check out the Balance app (newson health) if you have not already - lots of good info there.
