Stopping fluoxetine, on HRT

I have been on fluoxetine around 14 years. Have not tried to come off for many years now, but previously I went downhill quite fast. I am in a really good place now and really wish to come off them, I feel I have no need for them.
I am on HRT, though still having regular periods :( evorel 50 and utestrogen. Anyone stopped anti depressants during menopausal/peri?

Yes I did. Was only taking the fluoxetine one week a month (for pms) so just started tapering ie taking fewer pills a month. I would talk to your GP about best practice in terms of tapering as I didn't do it v scientifically and I know some people have a tough time coming off ADs. Although for me it was v straightforward.

I have also tried several times over the years to go off the fluoxetine. Once I managed a year before having a massive meltdown (I don't have depression but I sure did then) and it took ages for the meds to kick in again. I've now sworn I will never make that mistake again. My advice: think twice before making this decision.
