Confusion on when to start and stop Progesterone 100mg

Hi there, I did read several of the threads on similar topic but some part of my query is not answered or may be not clear to me yet. so if you know this better could you please help me? my GP is away, nurse is fully booked today
so no appointment even for 2 minutes on the phone, receptionist advised me to talk to my pharmacist !and the lady at my pharmacy who I know and have spoken with earlier is away too (found it really difficult to speak to a man over the phone in pharmacy who kept saying ask your GP!), i kind of need advise today otherwise just these small things bring a lot of mental anxiety for me.

my case:

  1. I am 43, after a long consultation my GP has put me on HRT (after being treated for IBS for 2 years ! yeah i was a grey zone case. I did not have IBS though! Doc did not put the picture clearly together with all the symptoms, anyways. i will keep it short here).
  2. I started my first dose of Estradiol spray from 4th Oct and started 2 pills (200mg) Progesterone every night also from 4th Oct. I was advised by doctor to take Progesterone only on first 14 days (2 weeks) in 4 weeks cycle. but here is what has got me confused.
  3. today is 11th Oct and i have my periods (day 1). so should i continue to take Progesterone tablet in the night regardless of my periods?
  4. From what i understood i would have stopped taking tablets from 18 Oct to 3 Nov.
  5. I think my doc's instructions were different to what the long leaflet in the tablet box states (take medicine in second half ie 15-30 days cycle!).
I am slightly nervous today, i know sky will not fall apart but because the doc is away and no one else to speak with I am asking it here. Thank You ever so much for your experienced guidance.

Best

You can if you want to, or you can wait for what would normally be midcycle for you (you might have a 26 day cycle or 35 days- so whichever it is.)

If you wait another 15 days, you'd start them on 26 october, then 26 Nov, 26 Dec etc.

(I've used Utrogestan for 9 years under a meno consultant and have tried many variations including some off-licence that are individualised.)

By the way, the patient leaflet says 12 days. Many GPs are following guidance for them written by Dr Louise Newson who thought it was easier for women to remember 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off.

However, many women with side effects from it find 14 days too long and it's really ok to do 12 days.

I used to take mine 14 days on and 14days off. I know don 12 days on and 16 days off. So I always start mine on a Friday night. Some start on the same date each month too as mentioned above.
