Hypoglycaemia, perimenopause, HRT?

Hi - I'm 47, I'm pretty sure I'm perimenopausal, I've had a mirena for the past 2 years as my periods were getting ridiculously heavy and draining and it has really helped, though I feel premenstrual every 2 weeks with some bloating, sore boobs & spotting. I've noticed a couple of other probable symptoms that have been on and off since then (occasional hair loss, warm at night sometimes, fatigue and more recently really sore knees)

I've also had a couple of episodes of hypoglycaemia recently and was wondering if this could be put down to perimenopause? I walk 30 mins to the station from work every night, and I'm guessing if I don't eat enough in the day, I end up feeling really shaky and sweaty and wobbly and have to grab a bag of haribos and a lucozade at the station and get them in quick. It's a really weird feeling that I've never had before.

I'm in otherwise fairly good health, my diet's ok, I'm not particularly overweight and don't have any diabetes symptoms/not particularly high risk for it.

Getting to the dr is such a pain so thought I'd ask here first if anyone else has had it. Also - would you be thinking of starting HRT now?

Have you diagnosed hypoglycaemia by measuring blood sugar? If not get some tests. It could be a lot of other things that need to be ruled out. A lot of peri symptoms are misdiagnosed as peri - mine have been. I had all sorts of symptoms which I thought was peri, and still might be but so far they've found a cyst and fluid round my ovaries, high cortisol levels and anemia.

Get to the doctors and get yourself checked out. And don't get fobbed off with perimeno. The symptoms are too nonspecific not to include other things. I made the statement: Of course I'd prefer it to be peri meno as that is not a disease but only if other things are ruled out first.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply @declutteringmymind I haven't been to the dr yet so no, I haven't had any blood tests which is stupid isn't it! It was just really obviously a kind of energy crash, feeling wobbly and weird and a bit sweaty and craving sugar to rebalance myself.

I have had a lot of stress recently, but I've never experienced this and just wondered (hoped!) it could be peri.

I'll book in at the GP!
