I’ve had a few problems with irregular bleeding and thought at 48 I must be heading for the menopause . However after my blood tests I’m apparently more fertile now than in my 20’s???!!!
I have PCOS and needed 9 rounds of fertility treatment to have my two kids as I only had about 3 periods a year and didn’t ovulate a lot of the time . Now I’m “ripe” at this elderly age. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm not sure you can read much into hormone tests if you're perimenopausal as your hormones fluctuate so wildly.

PCOS here fertility drugs given. At 44 got pregnant after being convinced I was menopausal. 😂😂

Blood tests aren't reliable and they don't use them any more to diagnose menopause. Unless your blood tests were for any other reason, then there is no point doing them. Irregular bleeding is to be expected at 48.

If your FSH was showing 'fertility' it can be because in peri the ovaries go into overdrive to try to kick out the last few eggs.

Agree with Jingling, blood tests aren't recommended to diagnose menopause, just to rule out other issues like deficiencies or thyroid. If you're having symptoms, you should be treated based on symptoms. Is anything else going on besides the heavy periods?
