HRT making symptoms worse?!

itsonlyme44 · 07/10/2023 11:44

I am on HRT for PMDD and early perimenopause (42). Third month in and I'm having night sweats almost daily which I very rarely had before along with sudden hot flashes in the day.

Could HRT be causing the sweats?

Started one one pump Estrogel and slowly worked up to two.

So hot!!! Was not like this before I started.

Seeing my menopause specialist next week.

Usually the hot sweats are a sign that you are not getting enough estrogen. Definitely something to mention to your specialist.

It might be that you need to up the pumps of estrogel. Get some advice but im not sure that 1 pump will make a lot of difference

Hi @dottydoooda, I started HRT two days ago but I’ve noticed that I’m definitely hotter since starting it. I never had night sweats but im starting to feel hotter at night. I’ve also had more hot flushes during the day since starting.
how are you getting on?

CrystalMaisie · 09/10/2023 23:27

It’s possible that you’re not absorbing well from the gel, might be worth trying the patch instead.

How are you feeling otherwise?

Please read up on HRT reactions, histimine intolerance etc.

Also how big are you say height, kg? One bizarre aspect of HRT is it's not one size fits all and yet women who are 8st vs women who are 20st are told 1-2 pumps.. makes zero sense, we need to look at weight, build and absorption rates.

Maybe needs changing, reducing or increasing you may also want to review the progesterone aspect again different types and doses.

Sorry about the symptoms the heat and flushes are the worse.
