DD off to university tomorrow

DD is off to uni tomorrow.
I thought I had my emotional self under control. Wrong! I'm a blubbering wreck! Her room is all packed, teddies in bags, baked beans and spaghetti all packed and I feel so sad.

Don't know how I'm going to say goodbye on Sunday, but I will have to.

Hormones feel really shifted and unsettled and I'm on HRT!

Thanks all.
Only been home 3 hours, but feel mentally drained! Just been in her room; it is in need of some good decorating, so will do that at some point.

Washing galore, as DS stayed home this weekend. He's quiet and I think will miss DD a lot ( secretly).

Then back to work tomorrow.
House just feels empty.

I found her tub of granola which she forgot to take and her little chocolate soya cartons ( I know, she won't give a hoot).

Thanks again.
The build up has been huge, but I never expected to be bawling every 5 minutes!

Completely normal OP, I just tried to keep busy in the first few weeks and the time just flew by. We had a visit in half term which was something to look forward to and before you know it they are back for Christmas.

You will be fine! It's only 10 weeks to the end of term and no doubt she or you will visit before then.

Just one point Just been in her room; it is in need of some good decorating, so will do that at some point.

If she's in hall or a rented flat, there may be rules about decorating. She'd need to check with the landlord or the uni if it's halls. Most students don't decorate rooms (except with posters if the lease/ agreement allows that!)

@JinglingSpringbells sorry you misunderstood, I meant her room at home needs a good decorate, not her halls.

My 2 are past this stage, just! I always took comfort in the fact that communication is so easy and frequent these days. I know there's always the time when they dont reply for hours and hours, but even that has to be better than my meagre offering to my parents, which was a phone call once a week. (If that!). It will soon get to the stage when it's lovely to see them come home, but also equally lovely when they go back!
