I have a Drs apt book for next week but am interested to hear if anyone has experienced similar.
My periods are still fairly regular and I’ve had no spotting between periods. My last period ended and a few days later I started spotting. For the last two weeks I have been spotting red pink and brown- sometimes when I wipe and sometimes on a pad. In this two weeks a couple of days there’s been nothing and a couple of days has been quite heavy (for me) bleeding.
I have booked the Drs apt but am interested if anyone has had similar and if they sought advice?
Thabks

Have you done a pregnancy test just to rule out an ectopic?

madamegazelle1 · 17/09/2023 15:23

Thanks for the reply- I’m def not pregnant

Very common during peri-menopause, unfortunately.

eurochick · 17/09/2023 15:28

I'm experiencing the same. I think it's probably due to the drop in progesterone levels.

madamegazelle1 · 17/09/2023 15:30

Thanks for the reply- I was expecting periods to dwindle not this to happen but reading more about peri has opened my eyes a bit!

I’ve been having this for years, since mid thirties. Never put two and two together but now realizing it must have been peri as it’s been getting gradually worse until I started HRT recently and then it totally vanished!

Gobimanchurian · 17/09/2023 16:01

Yep, happens all the time, sometimes constant low level. Been to docs who recommended changing my coil for a Mirela (after smear/swab ruled out anything untoward). Not got round to it yet.

I'm 47.. Figure it's part of the peri process. Nuisance though, light coloured linen pants and white jeans are timed carefully 🙄

Could be fibroids

madamegazelle1 · 17/09/2023 16:24

Thanks for the replies- I’m going to see the GP so I’m guessing they may want to check for fibroids or if it’s something else? Hoping not to have to think about wearing sanpro all the time!

Yep, I've had a few of these in the past year or so. 45, no other perimeno symptoms.

I've come to love period pants.

Could be fibroids

What do fibroids do? Do they bleed themselves?

madamegazelle1 · 17/09/2023 18:46

I hadn’t thought of period pants- thanks! I don’t know a lot about fibroids but I know they might cause some of the symptoms I have

I had this. I'm 40 and suspect I'm just entering perimenopause now (a few other symotoms).
One thing that has absolutely helped is iron tablets and a high vit b complex. They helped extend the time between my periods, the heaviness and the spotting. Might worth looking into?
Obviously check you can take these.
Isn't it great being female?!!

Cropcycle · 17/09/2023 19:12

Yes I had the same for a good few years.

madamegazelle1 · 17/09/2023 19:52

Nice to know I am not alone altho it’s frustrating we are all putting up with it! I’ll look into getting some of those supplements thanks

I've also become a fan of period pants. They are great for those days when you are not sure what your body is doing!

Teentrauma · 21/09/2023 07:12

I've had this and I do have fibroids, and am also very perimenopause. I'm hoping I'm nearing the end as my periods are lighter and much further apart of late. Interesting about the iron tablets as mine improved a lot while taking them (Ferraglobin) and returned a bit when I stopped. I've started taking them again now so will see...

I thought I’d update this thread if anyone has found it as they are in a similar situation.
My GP took swabs which came back as normal so referred me for a non urgent internal ultrasound which I had a couple of days later as the hospital called me the next day to offer me an apt the following day- unbelievable service.
The sonographer found a couple of endo polyps and the GP got in touch the same day to confirm results and that they have referred me for a non urgent gynae apt which I am waiting for.
Def worth getting checked out and I’m very grateful how efficient things are where I live.
