Not taking enough progesterone - GP ballsed up?

Yesterday I had my annual contraceptive pill check with the nurse for weight and BP and she asked about my HRT. I told her I used Oestrogel but didn't take any progesterone because when initially prescribed it 2.5 years ago the GP said the POP takes the place of the progesterone tablet for women who are on contraception so an additional tablet is not needed but if I ever come off the pill, let them know so they can prescribe me progesterone as well.

She looked through my notes and confirmed the GP had written all this down and said it was incorrect. I apparently wouldn't have been taking enough progesterone to protect me from endometrial cancer. She's going to speak to a colleague then refer me for a scan at the hospital to make sure everything is OK.

Does anyone else just use a POP with their patch/gel? I'm panicking now 😕

Edit: I'm 48 so still need contraception.

Sorry you are going through this. Your latest advice is correct that you need to be prescribed extra progesterone. That said, as far as I understand, it is because there isn't the evidence for use of the single dose pop (some evidence for double dose) providing adequate protection, not that it doesn't, so try not to panic.
Sounds like you have a good plan going forward with getting a scan. I would provide feedback to your surgery as it sounds like original GP may need extra hrt training (although may well have updated their knowledge in the past 2.5 years).

Thank you very much for your reply @Gloschick, I'll definitely be taking this further. Who knows how many other women at my practice are affected. Even a cursory Google says that the POP is not a suitable form of progesterone. This is not new guidance - this article is from 2020. I didn't start taking HRT until 2021
