Two queries re HRT

Hopefully someone can help!

  1. I was prescribed oestrogel by my old GP. Just moved and changed GPs. New GP has told me that the previous GP shouldn't have prescribed JUST oestrogel as this can increase the risk for endometrial cancer. She said previous GP should have prescribed both oestrogen and progesterone. Is this correct? Luckily I only took it for a few weeks as didn't get on with it.

  2. Is it possible to take some HRT if trying to conceive?

Many thanks!

hi, if you still have a womb your GP should prescribe progesterone alongside oestrogen as it stops the uterus lining from thickening and bleeding. A thickened uterine lining may lead to endometrial cancer.
not sure about pregnancy and HRT. I think you should ask a medical professional for advice. Hth.

I was told if you don't want to get pg, use contraception for the first two years.

I was hoping the hormones would help things but it doesn't work like that. My ovaries were already in atrophy but if yours aren't you could get lucky, if that's what you want.

I’m assuming you have a womb as you’re talking about conceiving, so yes, you need progesterone.

Thank you. Yes I do have a womb and am hoping for a miracle pregnancy. (It really would be a miracle!)

How did you get on with HRT? 🙏

Any chance anyone in this thread got pregnant on HRT?
So curious how the TTC trying to conceive efforts are going.
Curious to support each other in considering whether to take HRT if needing hormonal help, little else working, yet wanting to conceive. Thanks, and best wishes
