Switching from sequential to continuous

I have been on hrt for 18 months and it seems to suit me well. I use evorel 75 plus utrogestan 200mg for 12 days.

The days I take utrogestan I do sleep much better than those I don't and I am wondering if it would suit me better to take 100mg continuously.

Would it be OK to switch to this? I understand it is only if you have not had a period for a year but how do you know if that is the case if you are already on hrt? I bleed normally on it, prior to taking it 18 months ago my bleeding was a bit erratic but I was breastfeeding at the time.

The longest I’ve had (pre hrt) between periods was about 11 weeks. I’ve only been on hrt a few months. I started with sequential. Progesterone had a positive impact on my anxiety, but by day 10 my mood would drop down to dangerously low levels. So I moved myself over to continuous with a break. Roughly 25 day on, 3 days without progesterone. I always have a light bleed in the break. I don’t think the break is necessary for most people. I just need it to reset my mood before it falls off a cliff. 3 days seems to do the trick.

Might be worth a try to see how you get on.

You just need to try it. You might experience odd bleeding.
Bear in mind that the 100mgs might not be so sedating as the 200mgs.
Also, as you sound young, there is the option of a 100mcg patch which younger women often need, or 4 pumps of estrogen gel (roughly the same.)

Thanks both. Please can I ask if there are any negative health implications of switching to continuous at relatively young age (early 40s).
