Didn’t order my repeat prescription in time - how should I divide up urtogestan?

Foolishly, I thought I had a fresh box of urtogestan left - but I don’t, I have mostly-used blister pack with only four left in it!

I have one full bottle of oestrogel, so I’m ok for that, but I just requested my repeat prescription (I pay privately) and got an automatic note back saying it could take 10 days because of shortages!

I have four urtogestan left, and I’m about three days into its 14 day cycle (if that makes sense). I usually take 2 per day during this time.

Should I take one a day for four days instead of two? Or should I take them as prescribed (two a day) and then wait it out and carry on with the rest of the fourteen days when they arrive?

Kicking myself for being so lackadaisical. It’s because I had wanted to ask my GP to prescribe instead, but struggled to get an appointment, then realised I was running so low that I had to just reorder privately!

Can you phone the doctor and say that it is more urgent and you need it more quickly? Could you ask for provera or a patch instead for a few days until it comes through?

I had a similar situation a while back, I am on one a day continuously, so I took one every two days vaginally (dose delivered where it is needed) for 6 days and then my prescription luckily came in.
So in your case, I would take one a day for four days and hope for the best.

Thank you - that’s a good idea to call in the morning and tell them it’s urgent and ask if it can be a bit quicker!

I will take one tonight and cross my fingers it comes quickly!

Get googling and find another online supplier with stock?

I hadn’t thought of that - I thought it had to be approved by a doctor! Either the private one I used before, or my gp.

I will get googling!

I know it’s not much use now, but I have a repeat reminder set on my phone to order my repeat prescription. It’s a life saver!

BlackJumpsuit · 06/09/2023 22:26

Yep just DM me too, if it's weird giving your address you could use a friend/relative (is that less weird? 😂)

If a couple of us send a few we'll tide you over easily!

Oh that is so lovely of you!! Thank you! I have found this on advice upthread to see where has availability now:

And am going to try and get one packet to arrive by Friday. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it!

If for some reason something goes wrong, then I may well be back to take you up on a couple! Thank you again - wasn’t expecting that kindness!
