Hi, really hope someone out there can help!
I had triple negative breast cancer 2021, I'm menopausal and really struggling with night sweats. I'd love a full night's sleep!!
Actually it's not just night sweats. If I overheat during the day my face is like beetroot and it's so embarrassing. I'm just tired and sweaty.
I've tried a couple of antidepressants that have worked great with mood but haven't helped the sweats and sleep.
Has anyone found anything that helps???

Have you tried venlafaxine?

Phoenixfly · 05/09/2023 22:17

I've tried fluoxetine and sertraline so far.

Maybe ask to try venlafaxine. Can be really beneficial for sweats.

Hi
i had triple negative bc in 2018.
have you been tested for brca gene?
I had my ovaries removed in 2019 as I have brca 1.
Because the triple negative is hormone positive I was supported by consultants and Gp to take hrt and have been on it since 2019.
am not trying to suggest you should take it as you/professionals may feel it’s not right for you but just mentioning that it can be an option.

when my periods stopped during chemo was told to take sage for hot flushes.

Ugh. Just no. Venlaflaxine gave me such awful restless legs and was worse than the hot flushes.

I'm on gabapentin 3x300 daily after I researched it. Gp agreed to trial and it's working ok. Not brilliant, but takes the edge off the flushes and I don't get the accompanying anxiety that I had before. I just get my fan out and get on with stuff.

That's interesting to hear @Beck2023.
I have been tested for brca gene and thankfully came back negative.
A doctor at the newson clinic said she could prescribe hrt if I felt I needed it. Just a bit nervous about going back on it, although I loved my hrt!

@Babysharkdoodoodood SSRI's can e a minefield can't they. Definitely not one size fits all. I'm glad it's helping takecthe edge off for you.

Horses for courses, I find my patients all have different experiences. Some find venlafaxine amazing, others not so much. Trial and error sometimes.
