Has anyone in Scotland been prescribed testosterone?

Hello - just that really.

I know it's very difficult to get prescribed utrogestan here and wondering if it's similar for testosterone.

Also I think I've seen a consultant recommended who practises in Glasgow. Anyone know her name and whether she's prescribed it?

Thank you.

Mine refused recently. Also interested to hear if anyone has had it prescribed!

Did they give a reason for refusing, @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ?

My nurse has been a lot more helpful with basic HRT that I had expected but she'd never even heard of utrogestan and when I talked about lack of libido had nothing to suggest.

I've not asked for testosterone explicitly though, am just psyching myself up to give it a go. I think at best she'll refer me on to a meno specialist which will involve waiting a while for an appointment and I'm not sure they prescribe it here anyway so it could be a wasted few months. 🤷🏻‍♀️

He said it wasn't licensed. But he generally didn't have a clue - it was during an hrt review with a locus who clearly knew nothing about menopause and hrt!

GP won’t. I now see a Meno specialist who would prescribe it if necessary - it’s only legal if it’s for libido apparently, so you would need to say it’s for that. It took me over two years to see the specialist, but you can obvs see one quicker if you go private.

Recently moved back to England, was prescribed testosterone by wonderful family GP in Scotland. Appreciate I'm in the minority but it CAN be done. I persisted, persisted, persisted.

I dont know anyone taking it

Thanks so much for the replies. Looks like some GPs do prescribe it so I'll have another go and see if I can be referred to a meno consultant.
