Started HRT (Estrodot + progestogen) a week ago & I feel hot, not in the sexy way

Just that. I’m feeling hotter and more bothered than I was without HRT. I’m naturally quite warm and overheat easily, but I wasn’t having flushes before. My sleep and my undercarriage were crocked, hence HRT, but I wasn’t boiling. Now I’m hot, hot, hot. Sometimes it builds from my abdomen and I get progressively hotter until I have to shed layers. Will it settle down? I can’t spend all winter in shorts and vest tops. 😭

TBH it's not the HRT causing hotness but your own low hormones. HRT doesn't work in a week, for most people, and the hotness was coming along anyway.

You're advised to give hrt 3 months before making a decision on it.

Ah, thank you. This is vaguely encouraging because it means I might have accidentally started HRT in time to nip hot flushes in the bud. 🤞

Your estrogen dosage may be too low. I’ve just had to increase mine as the familiar symptoms were coming back, it did the job. Your hormones are still fluctuating and dipping, so it’s trial and error.

My dry undercarriage was one of the reasons for HRT, as well as aching joints and hot flushes. I also have testosterone as part of my regime as after 6months of being on HRT my libido was still dead, and intimacy is a very important part of my marriage. It sure does work, it helps with horrendous fatigue as well.
