I’m struggling to get enough energy to do anything… just wanting to sleep all of the time. Is this normal? I had a meeting this morning that was quite stressful in prep and action, and I have run a few errands since. I now feel like I could sleep for a whole day.
Is this unusual? If not, what can I do to help myself, and how long (as in as part of the menopause) is it going to last? It’s driving me crazy… I can usually get the energy to do so many things!! (And yes, I’m already on HRT).

Snap!
I’ve been suffering from fatigue for a few years and recently has become unbearable. To cut a long story short, I am the perfect storm of poor absorption of minerals and vitamins through inflammatory bowel disease and menopausal.
My strategy now is to max out my continuous HRT (4 pumps of Estrogel, Utrogestan and most recently testosterone). My folate is deficient and transferrin saturation 15% so GP has started me on folic acid and ferrous sulphate. I’m going to see if I start to improve with these new additions and if not, add in more vitamins and minerals if not. I was convinced I was B12 deficient but a private Methylmalonic Acid blood test said not. I’d start with getting your bloods done.
Good luck - I know we don’t like to, but you have to keep going to the GP with your fatigue as private blood tests can be costly.
PS
GP ordered a testosterone blood test when I said I was going to Superdrug for testosterone. My testosterone was 0.7 (low) and SGBH abnormal.

I take a magnesium supplement which makes a huge difference in how tired I feel. I have (I think!) just about shifted from Peri to Menopausal- after gushing blood 3 weeks out of 4 for 3 years I've been period free for a whole six weeks.

I started on Magnesium (just bought over the counter from Holland & Barrett) after hearing it recommended on here. It made me constipated though. I take a tablet every other day and have upped fruit intake and always drink plenty of water. Also take vit B every day. Stress levels more controlled now and feel 'back to normal' I was tearful and panicky before a lot of the time.

I've never had HRT either as it all hit me at the start of lockdown so couldn't have really got an appointment at the docs at that time for something non 'life threatening'

I’ve had exactly the same happen to me, exhaustion on another level. I had my testosterone levels checked and had only 10% of what it should have been. Within two weeks it felt as a switch had been turned on.

Some Drs are unsure of how to prescribe it as it’s an off license medication. In other words made for men, as usual nothing for women 🤨 The general dosage is one pump 3 times one week and 2 pumps the alternate week. I reduced it to twice a week as I was TOO Randy 🤣, my poor husband banished me to the spare bed to give him a rest. I’m back in the marital bed now.

Thank you all for your help… I need to up my research I think and get back to the doctors.
Crazy that it’s not better served by doctors. I just want to feel like me again!

I was very surprised at how insignificant menopause is to some GPs - understandably because it’s generally non-life threatening and surgeries are overwhelmed with the post-Covid backlog of illness. It’s only when I started doing my own research that I felt more hopeful.

@Snippit can I ask you what testosterone you are prescribed? The GP finally agreed to prescribe me testosterone this week and he gave me Tostran which isn’t in stock anywhere!
