Perimenopause symptoms

Hi everyone am 45 years old and just lately been feeling really terrible. So tired all of the time, an literally having to nap during the day ( if i can) am having terrible headaches and my body just hurts, especially my hips and legs. Last night at 2am i couldn't stay lying in my bed i was in so much pain so i got up and had a hot tea and found myself walking up and down my hallway to try to ease my pains.

Today am still sore but not as bad, i've been using paracetamol when its particularly bad but i have no idea what the hell is going on here.

My period are the same as always no changes there. I seem to be sensitive to light as well. I've always had sensitive eyes as i wear contact lenses but its just getting worse.

Considering calling my GP tomorrow as am really suffering. Am also quite fat around my stomach area (middle age spread maybe).

Can anyone relate to these symptoms. I don't have any hot flushes.

I'm a similar age and suddenly got thicker around the waist/ hips, had some hot flushes but more like night sweats (is it the same thing?)...I'm going to see the doc (as much as I hate going) just to get some reassurance about what's going on.

I haven't experienced pain as you've describes but it sounds awful and as its been gong on a while Id definitely go to the GP x

This is normal for peri. If you are going to see your GP, are you asking for HRT?
If not, there isn't any point seeing a dr as they are likely to confirm it's peri menopause.

If you want to try HRT, do some reading up around it first and don't allow your GP to offer blood tests to 'prove' peri as NICE says they are not needed for women over 45.

Decide if you want HRT, and ask your GP to prescribe.

@JinglingSpringbells

No am not after HRT am just looking to find out if this is perimenopause or something else. I thought it was worth exploring thankfully i managed a decent sleep last night, was a bit headachy this morning and still quite stiff and sore but will try the GP. I couldn't get an appointment today.

Thank you for your reply. Hope u get on ok with the GP.

I kind of hope that am told am not perimenopausal as I think am going to struggle a bit with loosing my reproductive abilities. I always wanted a 3rd child and after 2 losses in the last few years I have pretty much given up hope i know that my eggs are too old now but it will still hurt to be told that am starting the menopause. Anyway maybe a topic for another thread.
