Marina coil and acne

Hi
I have had mild hormonal acne most of my life, comes and goes! Recently, going on HRT has caused the spots to return ( Im 47 so feel I should be past this now!)
I was also bloating and had stomach cramps so my GP thinks I have a sensitivity to the progesterone used. Ive tried patches and tablets. Other than spots and these stomach symptoms, I felt so much better so I know I really benefit from HRT.
My GP has said I need to try the marina coil as it releases progesterone directly into the womb and may be better for my skin. I was wondering if anyone who has acne prone skin has had the coil and what their experiences have been? any advice welcomed.
Thanks

I had a terrible experience with the Mirena coil, but some people get on well with it. One of the many awful side effects was the boils on my face and neck. I was always quite prone to acne on my chin when hormonal, but this was another level.

That wasn't even the worst thing about Mirena for me. I felt like I was going mad every day, I put on 10lbs, I bled non-stop for the first six weeks. When the bleeding stopped, although I didn't have periods, I felt like I was permanently pre-menstrual. It really got me down.

Instant relief as soon as the damn thing was removed. You didn't ask that, but I feel the need to tell people about it because my GP was pretty pushy about it, and I wasn't told about the side effects at all!

It's been one of the best things I ever did. Specifically WRT acne, I used to have horrible deep red hormonal spots along my jawline, they vanished with the Mirena and never came back. No bleeding whatsoever after the first few months, no side effects, reliable contraception, it's been amazing for me.

Thanks Auntiesoap , its good to hear people's experiences. Sorry you had such a bad time with it.
I'm worried that because I'm already prone to acne that like you, this would make it worse.
Thanks
