Help with blood test results

Hello

I have a phone appointment on Monday to discuss these results with my GP, but in order to arm myself with the right info, can anyone help me to interpret the attached please?

Background: I am 44 years old and started HRT about 5 months ago, having had symptoms for the last few years. I am on the mini pill (Detrogel) and at the time of blood draw (Wed) I had 4 pills left in a 4 week packet. I am also on Evorel Sequi twice weekly patches, and currently coming to the end of a box, so currently using the Evorel Conti section of patches and have 1 left in the box.

I went to see my GP because I am losing scary amounts of hair, am very low on energy and experiencing a lot of anxiety, rage and very low mood. I’ve got low vit D, and I am also on levothyroxine (50mcg a day) after having half my thyroid removed.

Thanks in advance!

It's too faint to read on the screen.

You are going to have to type the parts you want comments on in a post.

Testing your estrogen isn't going to show much anyway as the tests aren't accurate. Evidently many tests have to be run over a day to get a correct reading.

Maybe you need to see a consultant about your thyroxine as 50mcg is quite a low level if you have had half your thyroid removed.

There is a thyroid support charity in the UK and they offer advice over their helpline. Might be worth calling them?

Ah, no idea why that’s come out so blurry.

Oestradiol level 100 (reference ranges follicular 72-529, mid cycle 135-1309, luteal 205-786, post meno <118). So clearly I’m either in the follicular phase or I’m post menopausal, and will need another blood test to confirm I guess? But just wondering if anyone has any experience/insight.

Re levo, they tested my TSH too and that was 2.59 (range 0.55-4.78), so this is in normal range. Frustratingly they don’t bother testing T3 or T4 which is what would actually tell me if there is an issue. I usually get these tested privately but they always come back in normal range.

what was the idea behind testing your estrogen etc?
It won't be accurate as you are using hormonal contraception and also HRT.
What did your dr hope to gain by the figures?

I'm not criticising you- because it was your dr's decision -but there is nothing to be gained from the tests as you're on HRT anyway. The most important thing is to get that right so you are symptom-free and your bones and heart are protected as you're only 44.

Thanks @JinglingSpringbells . I have found the positive effects I saw in the first 2-3 months of HRT have worn off and most of my peri symptoms have returned, so maybe that’s why he tested. I didn’t know HRT would skew those results.

Tests for estrogen are not accurate anyway, in anyone.
The test for menopause is the FSH test where over 30 indicated post menopause but even this can be inaccurate.

There are various doses of patches so maybe it's as simple as increasing the dose?

You can get patches ranging from 25mcg to 100mcgs. you might have to use an estrogen only patch and a separate progestogen.

Thank you. I will ask about increasing the dose.
