Aaagh - dry cough?

I’ve had a really bad dry cough for the last few weeks. It comes on at night usually, and occasionally when I eat, but bizarrely not when I go on a long run.

Ive just woken up with it (again - it’s knackering me), and have a really bad night sweat, and the penny has finally dropped it might be menopause related. I’ve also had a really itchy scalp for the past few weeks.

Im mid 50s, and already on HRT (gel and coil).

Has anyone else had this? Any tips for stopping it?

(Im seeing a gynaecologist for an unrelated check up in a week or so, so will talk to them about it too)

Randomly, it might be an early sign of reflux. See whether taking antacids before bed helps the cough!

Just bumping this at a less desperate hour!

Lack of estrogen does tend to dry all kinds of things up, including your mouth, so it could be a menopause symptom, but you really have to get it checked out that it's not something else.

But if you're still waking up with a reall bad night sweat, and you have a dry itchy scalp, it sounds like your HRT is not working properly anyway because your symptoms aren't controlled. You may need a higher dose or a different delivery method. And if that sorts out your cough too then you have your answer on that!
