What do hot flushes feel like

I am peri-meno, I have had test with high FSH last year but no symptoms. I have started to feel very warm on my face, it come quickly and is only on face. it is a slow heat and I sort of sweat (just feel slightly tacky not sweat) but I really feel it on my eye lids and forehead. Is this a hot flush or am I just hot? I never see anyone say how they first started.

Just to add this has only started this week.

That's a textbook hot flush.

Gosh - I'm only 42 so happening early.

As a creeping heat , can come over you like a wave.
I was 38.

I don't know but have had severe anxiety over the past year. Panic attacks and this red rash that comes up on my chest now and again. It comes and goes quite quickly but I wondered if it all could a sign of being perimenopausal.
Im 43. I was having night sweats too but this isn't too bad atm.

How did you get FSH tested?

Very, very, sweaty hot then freezing shivery cold. Awful. Now on hrt so don’t get them .

In the day mine feel mainly on my face/cheeks, for me a bit like having a slight temperature. Occasionally but not always go red.

At night it’s more of an all over sweat.

I feel like I have a fever. Sometimes feel a bit faint and panicky too.

I am 45 and started getting them over the last month, tested for FSH and it's high.

My entire body goes hot, like when you're ill with a high temperature. Last 10 seconds or so.

I'm 45, and so feel very lucky to get this before it has started as my mum hsd a hysterectomy at 35 due to endometriosis

A bit like coming up on MDMA, but not quite getting there and very short lasting. Mind you, it’s been years for me, so maybe my recollection of that isn’t accurate.

this is really interesting. I don’t really feel my suspected ones on my face, more that I suddenly got on my chest and think it’a hot. I’ve been wondering it it could be peri menopause starting.

I've started feeling like that a week before my period. I'm 36. I kept thinking I'm spiking a temperature before my period is due. Perhaps I'm actually perimeno! 😳

My face gets so hot it makes my glasses steam up.

Have you noticed flushing /red rash on chest?
Mines not itchy or painful so I know it's not hives or sonething. It comes on and fades fairly quickly.

I get hot and red from the chest up, lasts less than a minute but I have to go find something cool to rest my head on or carry a fan.

I've had a couple though that start in my feet, I feel weird as hell, and the heat just moves up from my feet all the way up my body until I feel like I want to rip off all clothing and sink into the nearest puddle or pool or bath of cool water.
Few minutes later I'm covered in goosebumps.

HRT for me only lessens them, not completely get rid.

I have always read about the worst ones, for example night sweats and sweat pouring from face and all over body. wondering if what i described is the beginning and if this is the start how long until it goes up from slight heat and feeling like what I described to full on flush? Never any info on first noticed hot flush stuff.

My GP sent me for tests for menopause. I was having crushing tiredness from aroung 38 years old. Fell exhausted all the time.

I started with them when I was 48, I couldn't take HRT as I had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Twenty years later I still have them😡, not as often as I did but I always have to be near a open window or door when they start as I feel so claustrophobic

I think this happend to me on holiday. I also noticed I could not deal with the hot weather this year and when on holiday.

My poor Mother had early meno and still has the hot flushes 20 years later. she really suffered with them. I have two older sisters who are both still not peri - must just be the luck of the draw.

I'm six years in. It goes:

feeling of impending doom.
Intense heat around chest throat.
Massive wave of hot flush.
sweatiness.
perfectly okay again.

still get them 2/3 times a day. If it’s a heatwave much more (love this crap summer).

the feeling of impending doom is by far the worst thing.

Mine started at 44, warm face, feeling flushed, sweating upper body - need to remove a layer etc. I didn’t mind them that much, even in work, I was just open about them. But at night - my God! Hot all over, irresistible heat from the chest out, building to every pore sweating, including fingers and toes. Got on HRT for 2 years as I couldn’t sleep.
Came off it afterwards, flushes came straight back, but I’m 51 now and it’s eased off a bit though they still happen. I generally sleep much better. Triggers are hot drinks,
hot food, hot weather.
Over time I noticed they are frequently accompanied by two weird but consistent precursors- I get suddenly thirsty - if I find myself reaching for cold water I know I’m going to flush a minute or two later; and also there is a sudden sense of anxiety that I never had before - like a plummeting lift of existential doom. I’ve learned to shrug it off as after the flush it’s gone again but it’s the oddest thing.
