Hi,
I’m 2 years into menopause. Not on hrt.
Having hot flushes, few aches and pains but generally not too bad. Very dry ‘down there’ Over the last couple of days I’ve had cramp like pains in my lower stomach and groin area. Vagina has for want of a better word ached. Nothing terrible but there’s an ache with it all. I’m not sure if it’s a water infection and I’m going to call the doctor in the morning to see about that. Slight burning pain when peeing but no foul smell but I’m struggling to think what this pain is? I’m not due a smear test for a long while yet and I’m scared to go for one because I’ve heard they really hurt during menopause? Any idea what this pain could be? Bit scared if I’m honest. Have had a bit of discharge but that comes and goes? It’s a kind of yellowy colour. Sorry for the TMI. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like atrophy. You might want to discuss some vaginal oestrogen if you don’t want HRT

I'm in peri menopause and on HRT.

I've had all manner of internal exams in the last year and not once have any of them hurt.

I also use Ovestin cream for vaginal atrophy and I'm also using Trimovate for an infection at the moment.

Just go and ask the GP to check. It could be anything from thrush to a UTI to cysts.
You won't know if you don't ask.

And I mean I've had sessions with a pelvic floor physio, seen a uro-gynae, see a GP for about 5 internals. Not a single one hurt. Just ask the GP to use lubrication.

@DustyLee123 is right. My atrophy caused terrible aching of vaginal area. Ovestin cream has sorted this
