Shooting pain in legs and sore hips

Hi everyone
So I'm new to all this. Not sure if I'm in perimenopause or actual menopause. I've haven't had period for over 100 days now and having hot flashes day and night.
But I've started to get pains in legs particularly the right leg and my hip bones really hurt, so I guess what I'm asking is, is this all normal?

I’m getting this you, thought that I might be sat at desk for too long. Do you sometimes also tremble in the hip area?

MumofBoyzTW · 08/08/2023 07:06

I have hip pain (worse at night) some shooting pains down my legs too. The backs of my knees feel like they are burning (recent addition to pains) and I don’t do a desk job. With HRT it was better for a while. Now it is worse than ever.
I would like to know if this is normal. I have an appointment with HRT specialist shortly so hopefully I will get some answers, NHS GP hopeless.
Hopefully someone will reply here to give us both some suggestions?!!!

I have exactly the same. Really bad pain (right hip) shooting pains down legs and mine hurts more when I lay down.
i have been on HRT for anxiety, hot flushes etc… for around 3 years. NHS GPS kept increasing and increasing patches but it didn’t help with hip pain, sad to say, just gave me other issues instead.
Be cautious if the ‘solution’ is to keep increasing oestrogen to very high levels.
My patches have recently been changed from Sequi + additional evrol 50 to Conti patches which have left me feeling terrible, hip same as ever, low mood etc….
hopefully someone else has more positive experience?
Or something worth trying?
if you find anything that helps the hip pain please let me know….

Sounds like sciatica?

Really interested to find this thread. I’ve been backwards and forwards to GP and OOH about pain that starts in my stomach and shoots down my leg/hip. It now seems to have settled as hip pain. I’d not put it down to peri though.

Please don't blame everything on the menopause , it's too easy to do. I'd say it's sciatica or hip impingement which I have. Go to the GP who will perform some movements on your hips. Which is a pretty good way to diagnose in the first instance.

Sadly a very normal but unknown side effect - I remember crying from joint pain. Painkillers and exercise help.

Hi, I'm also having terrible hip pain and it's excruciating. I haven't had a period for a year and half.
Really worried?

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 09/09/2024 19:09

Mine was due to a tight IT band down the outside of my thigh down to my knee - was awful in the night.

googled a few excercises and much better now

Thank you for replying. I don't know what is causing the pain but its horrendous. I had an x-ray last week and am still waiting for the results.
Was just wondering if this is a common symptom of menopause?
