Anyone experience with fibroids?

Hello-
I am 51 and have had issues with severely heavy bleeding for the past 2 years. I have been anemic as a result (ferritin level of 4). In February I had a hysterscopic uterine ablation and a myomectomy (fibroid removal) in order to get the bleeding under control. All biopsies came back clear.
My first 4 cycles were significantly lighter which was an incredible relief. At the follow up I told my surgeon that bleeding had been reduced by 80% to which he mentioned I should probably see improvements beyond that over the next few months.
Unfortunately, my last three cycles seem to be increasing with bouts of flooding and larger clots again. Certainly not as bad as before but certainly not where I hoped to be.
I followed up with the surgeon and he will investigate but he did mention that the fibroid wasn’t entirely removed and that it could be the base of it still causing problems.
Has anyone else had a fibroid removal that required a second surgery?

I had a hysterectomy - best thing I ever did.

I have fibroids, advised I had them for years but HRT has stimulated them so lots of bleeding. Considering asking for hysterectomy so glad it worked for @Eyesopenwideawake

Hi. I had a large fibroid - 12cm diameter. It was awful! It pushed in my bowel and the pressure pain was horrific. I had it removed and, like yourself, I was told i still had a part of it embedded in the womb wall as it was not save to remove completely. I've not had any bother with it again so far (it was 6 years ago since my op). I know that doesn't help you but I'm not sure you should be having these issues again so soon tbh.

I was given a temporary induced menopause which shrunk my fibroid massively before the op. Have you been through the menopause yet? I was only 35 at the time and was told I'd need a hysterectomy to deal with my fibroid issues... 🙄 I went private and I'm glad I didn't listen to the NHS as I've had a child since then. 😱

Good luck, I remember the horrific bleeding, it was soul destroying. I hope you get some answers soon

@borderlinecool what medicine did you use to shrink it? If you don't mind me asking. I'm about to start with ryeqo. Thanks, Karen.

I had a uterine fibroid embolization at age 52. It was brilliant resolved my issues. My fibroid was 15cm so very big. Could this be an option for you?

I would also suggest you ask about embolisation. It can work extremely well but isn’t suitable for everyone.
