Bleeding on Evorel Sequi

Hi

I would really appreciate advice because Dr Google seems very conflicting between the potential serious of this.

I have just started my 5th pack of Evorel Sequi. I have had difficulty getting the packs when I need them which is hopefully sorted now but it does mean I have had some breaks which I shouldn't have. Before the 5th pack I had a break of over a week with no patches. I also had a break between 3 and 4.

When I started the patches I was perimenopausal - my periods were irregular but I was still having them.

Up until now I have starting bleeding 4th week of the cycle but this time I started bleeding 3 days into the first Evorel 50 patch? I have no pain - the bleeding is light but a bit more than spotting. I have had it for 3 days now.

From what I'm read irregular bleeding in the first 6 months is normal. But I have also read it could be serious.

I would really really appreciate reassurance.

Thanks xx

The thing that you have to remember is that you don’t know what your body would have done if you weren’t on HRT, you’ve already said that you were irregular. Then you’ve got the HRT trying to get into a rhythm, which has been affected by the gaps.
Id let it settle for 6 months now that you have a constant supply, and see how you go.

I’ve been on sequi roughly 3 years now and periods have never regulated

Had investigations last year and some fibroids were found which gynae weren’t particularly concerned about and that was it

I think the patches for me take away some of the worst peri symptoms but maybe dosage is off for regulating my periods.

it’s annoying but learnt to live with it now, I’m 50 btw

Thanks - I thought - obviously wrongly - that the patches regulated your bleeds so you didn't actually have periods anymore. It's good to know that's not the case!

Sorry just to be clear
I’m saying period but it’s effectively a breakthrough bleed, which you should get on sequi every month.
Hope that makes sense x

I started on the patches in November, and up until now have been having a period every 22 days Now suddenly had my 6 day period as usual and then bam 2 weeks later having another period. Definitely a period and not spotting. So fed up. Can't get an appointment till Saturday. The leaflet says if get unexpected bleeding after 6 months to stop using the patches so now in limber.

Hmm I don’t know the answer but I’m just coming to the end of the 3rd month and there has been some weird bleeding and no “period” to speak of in five weeks now. No gap. Not really sure what’s normal.

I think the whole point of Evorel sequi is that you do still have a bleed. If you want to stop your periods you need a merina coil or a mini pill progesterone that you take without a break. You would then change from sequi to an alternative form of oestrogen. I was offered this as my periods were really heavy and I was anaemic, but I declined.

When I first started patches I would bleed on day 1 of the 28 day cycle, so day 1 of the oestrogen only patches. This has now changed and I now bleed on around day 24, about 10 days into the combination patch. the change happened gradually over a few months, creeping a day earlier each month. However, my periods were always very regular before I went on HRT.
