Utrogestan 25days but period early...when do I take the 3 day break

I had been having some peri issues (before HRT) of ridiculously short cycle/frequent bleeding/flooding but the HRT seemed to have stabilised that (had scan/bioposy/nothing worrying causing bleeding).

Was on a 14 on/14 off regime (50 patch/200 utrogestan for 2 week). Cycle seemed pretty lined up with that, was back to my normal 27 or 28 days. Although my period/spotting did seem to last 10/11 days - about 6 days of normal period and then 5 odd days of dark/brown stringy spotting (sorry if tmi).

GP suggested I moved to the 25/28 100 utrogestan.. Was fine for the first couple of months but this month period started Thursday (day 17 - or day 14 of the utrogestan) and yesterday bleeding was horrific...flooding unbelievable, massive clots. I had forgotten to change my patch on Thursday morning...but no other changes causing it....so am a bit WTF about it all.

But then, started wondering - as am now on day 19 of my cycle, and day 16 of the utrogestan - do I just keep taking the utrogestan until day 25 and then have a 3 day break and potentially another bleed? Will that take my cycle and utro cycle totally out of alignment. Or should I stop the utrogestan, take a 3 day break and restart the 1-25 days of utrogestan?

Help please? What is the best way forward?

TBH it's not advised by specialists to use continuous HRT when in peri. This is because the progestogen dose can be too low to control the womb lining.
You'd probably be better going back to the 12/14 days a month. At least that way you should eventually have a regular and predictable withdrawal bleed.

The 25 days on/ 3 days off has almost been replaced now by using Utrogestan every day. Very few women post meno or late peri do 25 days- they use it every day.

Whatever you do, HRT is supposed to create the new cycle, so you aren't supposed to try to follow your own cycles, juggling the Utrogestan around your period.

So if you want to carry on with 25 days, you should keep taking it and have the 3 day break.

Thank you - but should I do the 3 day break now (as have had period on day 17/18/19) or in 6 days time so on day 25....this is what I am not sure about.
