Anyone had premature menopause?

34yo and since February have had nightly hot sweats and flushes, recurrent thrush, frequent torn skin in my vulva, dry skin and changes to my hair. I had my first baby in early 2022 and won’t be having any more.

My GP has checked my thyroid (I have been hypothyroid since 2009) and adjusted my meds so they’re all fine for a few months now. I’ve got a blood test with my GP tomorrow to check my thyroid again (they want to check that first before proceeding further) so that’s my next step.
Just wanted to hear from other people if they’ve had suspected premature menopause this early and what route you took (GP/private)?

You might like to look at the website of the Daisy Network.
This is a national charity, run by consultants, and it supports women with POI.
The website has information and there is also a forum. I think there is a fee to join the charity/ forum (like £20) but that gives you access to the other women in the same position.

Have your periods stopped or become very irregular?

The diagnosis is done by a blood test on days 2-5 of your normal cycle, and repeated a month later.

Your GP can do this and refer you to a menopause gynaecologist if the results show POI.

I did, mine started at around 33/34. Took quite some time to diagnose, my GP was useless, luckily we had private healthcare so went that route, various tests followed over a 6 month period and was finally diagnosed via a laparoscopy. I was put on HRT straight away, which I took for about 16/17 years.
