78 days now - should I be worried?

I'm 44 and think I have been in peri for a few years now (symptoms got worse in last 18 months and periods became more erratic in same time frame). When I was 30 I had a pelvic inflammatory infection which spread to my fallopian tubes (and maybe my ovaries) and my periods changed from 28 days to 21 after that and I was told I was infertile as both fallopian tubes are full of blood). They also suspected endometriosis but I decided not to operate as I had young kids. Around late 30s I was having some emotional changes (rage etc) and had one long cycle (about 40 to 45 days) each year.

Although periods have been very erratic for 18 months (swinging from 15 days to 46 and everything inbetween) I have never gone this long without a period (currently at 78 days since the start of my last one). I also am finding I have far less symptoms and my anxiety has all but disappeared (it has been very bad for last 18 months). Due to my infertility and the fact that DH hada successful vasectomy 14 years ago I very much doubt I'm pregnant. It feels like it is too early for menopause to be very close. Is this long a cycle normal? Consultant who is investigating endometriosis says no hrt unless I have op first in case it makes things worse. Not sure what to do if anything at all!

Thanks for reading.
